Grading & Skid Steer Work: When a Property Needs It

Puddles that never dry, a driveway that eats itself, or a lawn that won't take — how to tell when it's a grading problem.

Grading & Skid Steer Work: When a Property Needs It

A lot of property problems people blame on the lawn, the driveway or the plants are actually grading problems underneath. If water isn't moving the way it should, nothing on top of it will fix itself. Here's how to tell when a property genuinely needs a skid steer on-site, and what to expect if you call us.

Signs your property needs regrading

  • Puddles that sit for more than a day after rain
  • Water pooling within a metre of the foundation
  • A lawn that fails every year in the same spot
  • A driveway that ruts, washes out, or holds standing water
  • Downspouts dumping directly onto soil instead of draining away
  • A new-build or renovated property where the topsoil was left uneven

What skid steer work actually looks like

Our Kubota compact track loaders are rubber-tracked, low-PSI, and chosen specifically to leave a light footprint. On a typical grading job we strip back the affected area, correct the slope so water runs away from the house and toward a proper outlet, top-dress with screened soil, and either seed or sod. The whole job is usually done in a day or two on a residential lot.

Other jobs that need the equipment

  • Driveway and gravel pad rebuilds
  • Trenching for drainage tile, utilities or irrigation
  • Stump extraction and site cleanup after tree removal
  • Brush clearing on overgrown or rural lots
  • Site prep for new sod, seed, patios or hardscape

Turf-safe by design

The biggest complaint about heavier equipment is what it does to the surrounding lawn. Our machines were chosen to avoid exactly that — no ruts, no torn beds, no chewed-up driveway. We take pride in leaving the site looking better than we found it.
