Why the rules exist
Oxford County relies entirely on groundwater for its drinking water, so By-law 4193-2002 limits outdoor watering from May 1 to September 30 each year.
Residential watering schedule
- Water every other day by address: even-numbered addresses on even-numbered days, odd on odd days.
- Watering is allowed from 6 to 9 a.m. or 6 to 9 p.m.
Exemptions for new sod
New sod, seed, trees and automatic sprinkler systems can qualify for an exemption permit from Oxford County.
